If you intend to hold yourself out as a Financial Planner, (or similar title) you should be aware that Council guidelines exist. See Council's Financial Planning Notice.

A life insurance agent licence allows the licensee to conduct life and accident and sickness insurance in the province of B.C. Section 168 of the Act defines an insurance agent as:

“…a person, other than an insurance company or an extraprovincial insurance corporation, who solicits, obtains or takes an application for insurance, or negotiates for or procures insurance, or signs or delivers a policy, or collects or receives a premium.”

For qualification details, first application forms, instructions, and fee schedules, choose the type of licence you wish to view from the drop down menu under Life Insurance at the top of this page.
