How To Qualify For A Licence

This section will provide you with information on how to qualify for various licence types and includes forms, instructions, and fee information for first time applicants. If you are applying for a first time licence, or have been out of the industry for sometime, you may also have to submit a Criminal Record Check with your application. Ensure you also review that section of this site carefully.

If you are looking for information on annual filings or how to renew, transfer, amend, or re-apply for a licence, look under Other Licensing Information in this website. It will include the details and forms you are looking for.

You should expect the processing time of first time applications to be 10 business days where there are no suitability or conduct issues and all application requirements have been met.

Click on the class of licence you wish to apply for on the banner at the top of this page for details. Once in that section, there is a drop down menu under each class for different licence types and levels.

Continuous Licensing: All licences now issued by Council are continuous. This means that licences no longer have an expiry date. Licensees are still required to transfer licences between employers and amend licences; and instead of “renewing” a licence all licensees will have to “file” with Council each June 1st.

The objective in moving to a continuous licensing structure was part of Council’s overall goal to simplify the regulatory and licensing structure and make individual licensees more accountable for their actions. If you have not already done so, ensure you are familiar with your responsibilities under Council Rules. Also read the Licensee Responsibility section of this site carefully.
