June 28: National Insurance Awareness Day 2025

Published June 26, 2025

June 28 is National Insurance Awareness Day (NIAD) in Canada: on this day, we encourage Canadians to review their insurance policies and reach out to licensed insurance professionals to ensure they have the right coverage for their needs.

National Insurance Awareness Day is a good time to check in with clients. As a  licensed insurance broker or agent, you help people understand their insurance coverage and make sure it keeps up with their lives. With natural disasters and other risks becoming more common, National Insurance Awareness Day is a great opportunity for licensed insurance professionals to connect with the people in their communities and help them stay protected.

Why this day matters

Insurance can change as life changes — whether someone has renovated their home, moved, or just hasn’t reviewed their policy in a while. NIAD is a reminder for Canadians to take a look at their coverage and talk to someone who can help. That’s where you come in.

Easy ways to take part

Regulators across Canada have put together a NIAD 2025 Toolkit to make it simple for you to join in. Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Use ready-made promo materials
You’ll find helpful materials for your use on the CISRO website, including:
  1. Share your stories

Have you helped a client adjust their coverage before a major event? Or guided someone through a tough claim?
Use NIAD as a chance to share real stories that show the value of staying up to date with insurance.

  1. Reach out to clients
Send a quick email, make a phone call, or post a reminder online. NIAD is a simple way to:
  • Review policies
  • Talk through recent life changes (new home, renovation, growing family)
  • Offer tips on reducing risk or preparing for emergencies

NIAD is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a great excuse to start important conversations. Whether it’s a quick policy review or sharing a checklist, your support helps clients feel more confident in their coverage.
