Individual Life Insurance Agent Licence Education: Applicants for a life insurance licence must complete the Life Licence Qualifying Program ("LLQP"). The LLQP consists of a mandatory education course and a qualifying licensing exam (multiple choice) based on the course. Independent approved course providers provide the LLQP course. Once applicants complete the course, they must then successfully complete Council's LLQP licensing exam within one year. The results from successful completion of Council’s LLQP examinations are only valid for licensing purposes for a period of one year from completion date. Applicants who wait longer than one year to obtain a licence will have to requalify. Council does not have information regarding costs, delivery methods or scheduling. Contact information for course providers can be found under HANDY LINKS AND CONTACTS - LLQP EDUCATION PROVIDERS. Trade Names The insurance licence must carry all names under which business will be conducted. For instance, if John Doe wants to conduct business as John Doe Insurance Services, he must apply as a SOLE PROPRIETOR LIFE INSURANCE AGENT. Financial Planning If you intend to hold yourself as a Financial Planner (or similar title), Council guidelines exist. Read Council's FINANCIAL PLANNING NOTICE. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION PACKAGE |
