The deadline for Insurance Council licensees to complete their annual continuing education (CE) requirements for 2020 has been extended from May 31, 2020, to the following year, May 31, 2021.
Disruptions caused by the global coronavirus pandemic have made completing CE credits by this year's deadline more challenging for licensees. The extension of the CE deadline means that licensees will now have an additional year to complete their 2020 CE credits.
Continuing education is a core principle that supports high standards of professional practice. Insurance Council Rule 7(5) requires licensees to complete a specific amount of continuing education (CE) credits by May 31 annually depending on their licence class and years of experience.
Yes, but you will have until May 31 of next year (2021) to complete them.
Yes. Licensees are still expected to complete their annual filing for this year by June 1, 2020.
By May 31, 2021, you will need to have the correct total amount of CE credits for the two-year period between June 1, 2019 and May 31, 2021, based on the usual requirements for your licence class and years of experience. You do not need to have earned the credits during 2020 as long as you end up with the correct total number at May 31, 2021.
By the time you submit your next filing, you will need to have completed two years’ worth of CE credits based on your class of licence and years of experience. See above “How many CE credits do I need to complete by May 31, 2021?”
