Insurance Council launches new updated Council Rules Course in March

Published February 22, 2022

Starting March 15, 2022, the Insurance Council Rules Course will be offered through our online portal. The course is a prerequisite for all new Insurance Council licence applicants and can also be taken by licensees to count towards their continuing education (CE) requirements.

The course is delivered in two streams, one tailored for general insurance and adjusters, and the other for life and/or accident & sickness insurance. Each course was previously offered by the Insurance Brokers Association of BC (IBABC) and Advocis respectively, and will be available through these providers until March 15. If you have already taken the course or have registered to take the course through IBABC or Advocis before March 15, 2022, you do not need to take the new course developed by the Insurance Council.

The new Insurance Council Rules Course is an updated version that includes revisions and the most current information about licensee requirements and regulatory information. Both versions of the course will be provided solely by the Insurance Council, enabling timely updates regarding regulatory or other licensee requirements to keep course content current. Although current licensees are not required to take the course, we strongly encourage licensees to do so as it will provide a refresher and overview of the latest updates, as well as two CE credits towards annual CE requirements.

More information will be provided on our website when the new Insurance Council Rules Course is available.
