Continuing Education: What You Need to Know about the 2020 CE Extension

Published Februrary 23, 2021

Due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus, in April 2020 the Insurance Council approved a one-year extension of the deadline for licensees to complete their annual continuing education (CE) requirements from May 31, 2020 to May 31, 2021.

With 2021 annual filing fast approaching, licensees are reminded that they will need to meet their CE requirements for 2020 and 2021, if they were licensed during those years.

We’ve put together a list of common questions and answers about the CE extension and requirements which you can find in the CE section of our website. Questions include:

  • How many credits do I need to complete by May 31, 2021?
  • This is my first annual filing, do I qualify for the CE extension?
  • I completed more CE credits than required in the 2020 filing year, can I carry over the excess credits and apply it to my 2021 filing year?
  • What are the CE requirements by licence class?
Other questions as well as scenario examples are included.
