New continuing education micro-learning course: Client Confidentiality

The Insurance Council of British Columbia is pleased to announce the launch of a new on-demand eLearning course designed to support licensees in meeting their professional and regulatory responsibilities. The Client Confidentiality Course is the first in a new series of short, practical micro-learning courses that will make continuing education more accessible, flexible, and engaging.
Why Client Confidentiality Matters
Maintaining the confidentiality of client information is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an insurance licensee. Protecting personal information not only ensures compliance with provincial privacy laws and Council Rules but also reinforces public trust in the insurance industry as a whole.
This course is designed to help licensees strengthen their understanding of confidentiality requirements and apply best practices in their daily work.

In this short course, you will:

Understand the Insurance Council of BC’s client confidentiality and privacy requirements

Identify situations that could result in a privacy breach

Gain awareness of provincial privacy legislation relevant to client confidentiality

Learn best practices for safeguarding client information, including cybersecurity readiness strategies
Interactive and Practical Format
To ensure meaningful engagement, the course combines case studies, video scenarios and knowledge checks, encouraging licensees to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. The micro-learning format allows licensees to complete the course on demand at their own pace and in a short time commitment of just half an hour.
